The 27 words of a LA artspeak to signal a group of people who are bound by language through the recent activities initiated at MOCA. The 27 lingers for the number of years Schimmel was the director.

1.     Deesch /ˈdēsh/ adjective, An expressive term used as a sign of distaste for art. The word is a conflation of the sound of the transgressive director and the distasteful onomatopoeia, jeesh.

2.     Baldeseeya /bal de ˈsee yuh/ interjection, noun, verb, A friendly greeting or goodbye or a “see you, wouldn’t want to be you” sarcastic goodbye.

3.     Opiened  /ˈō pēnd/ Further Baldeseeya’s the following an intital one.

4.     Barrymade /ˈbarē-mād/ adjective, noun, When art museums invite celebrities to curate or host exclusive showings that are mainly for other celebrities and celebrity gawkers.

5.     Obeyhed /ōˈbā hed/ adjective, Describes exhibition design or graphic materials around an art exhibition that are gaudy design materials and practices.

6.     Broaten /ˈbrō-ten/ adjective, The state in which the mission of the institution is broken due to money and positioning.

7.     Schimmeyed /ˈshim-ēd/ adjective, verb The act resulting in a firing based on personality issues. The action is done quickly to leave the institution with little to no culpability.

8.     Hellya Skellya /ˈhel-ē ə ˈskell- ē ə / verb, noun A curatorial boon; the act of presenting a great show that may define an epoch for a city.

9.     Stong /stäng / verb, The action of an institution cutting educational workshops and education-based curators. Coupled with the word gone; also a term for being collateral damage in a bigger cleansing movement.

10.   Elidazzled /ˈē-lī-ˈda zəld/ verb, The act of trying to cover up a cleaning of personnel through writing conflicting and grey shaded actions, confusing the course for what will happen next.
